Hey, World!

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by to check out my blog. I’m Jessica, a 20-something living in Pittsburgh, PA (born and raised). I decided to start blogging for a lot of reasons. I’ve been wanting to blog for a few years and finally I settled on a name and design (made by me! made by DannyWordpress until I get myself together). Blogging combines all of my passions into one. I love photography (my #1 passion), designing, and writing. Most of all, I enjoy sharing. To make a long story short, I have strayed away from my passions, yet still have a deep desire to share them and my experiences in life. Also, reading blogs has really helped me realize, “Yeah, a lot of girls my age are struggling with the same thing right now!” I feel a little less alone. I want to contribute my part in inspiring people 🙂

You’re probably wondering, “what’s with the name??”
I was inspired by a line in a Colbie Caillat song. You know that moment when you’re cuddling with someone you love and suddenly you realize your breathing is synced? Or the moment you’re holding a baby and they fall asleep on your chest and you’re breathing along their rhythm? Even more, that moment you take a breath to relax and recenter?

In that moment, listening to the breaths, you’re really present. That’s what this blog is about…living moments in the present. I constantly think about the future and the past. I want to share my present and truly reflect on my days while sharing the bumpy ride that’s included.

Here’s a little more about me…

I just recently graduated from community college with a certificate in web development. I am continuing with my education in the Spring to get my Associates degree in computer science. Education has been a bumpy road for me with lots of detours. That’s a post for another day….
I’ve been doing photography for as long as I can remember. I received my first, very own digital camera in 7th grade and finally started teaching myself photography in 8th grade. By the time I reached high school, my photography was popular with my peers and family. I aspired to be a fashion photographer and wedding photographer. Since then, I have photographed 5 weddings, a dozen or more senior pictures, and more personal creative projects than I can count.
During middle school, I spent a lot of time on the computer. My boyfriend calls me an “indoor kid”. I taught myself web design and didn’t take a formal class relating to it until 2013. At the moment, I’m dreaming of being a WordPress developer and working my own business from home. Until then, my day job is being an administrative assistant for a small local business.

Besides being a total nerd (sometimes), I love traveling and cooking. Fortunately, I have a great guy named Brian who enjoys doing those things too. We always find a way to travel and he has taught me so much about cooking. When I first moved into an apartment on my own in 2013, I lived off grilled cheese and tomato soup. I can now cook myself a full meal and it actually tastes good! We also go camping a lot (a new love of mine). Pennsylvania is great for camping because of the beautiful mountains. We’re also hippies at heart and love to hit up small music festivals in Ohio as often as possible.

I can’t wait to share more in my upcoming posts!

-Jessica
