52 Weeks of Gratitude: Week 1

52 weeks of gratitude - week 1

Some weeks are harder than others. Sometimes it’s difficult to remain optimistic and grateful for even the little things. I’ve decided to write a post each week during 2017 with a few things I’m grateful for each week. I’m about three weeks behind on starting this, but I just thought of the idea. I will try to share a few extra posts about gratitude during this year to catch up ;).

At the moment, I feel grumpy and stuck in life. There have been a few hiccups that make me want to crawl into bed the second I get home. Despite feeling this way, here are a few things I am grateful for this week:

1. Staying on my dad’s health insurance

A little over a week ago, I went to Medexpress and found out that I either have a small umbilical hernia. It’s painful and uncomfortable, resulting in me needing to get surgery. If I couldn’t stay on my dad’s insurance until I’m 26 (and I only have a few weeks left…yikes!), I’m not sure what I would do. If I had to pay out of pocket for the surgery, I’m not sure it would be an option. Thankfully, my surgery is in two weeks, just before I turn 26 and have to get my own insurance.

2. Flexible job

Thankfully, my current job is pretty flexible with my schedule. I’m in the works of planning a week long trip to Florida to help out with taking care of my nephew, and (hopefully) my boss won’t mind.

3. My fiancé’s patience

Seriously…this man has an excessive amount of patience with me. Patience for driving…not so much. Yesterday, we went skiing and no matter what, I was uncomfortable and whiny. I tried my absolute hardest to make the most of the day, but my rental boots didn’t fit right, a tag on my shirt was scratching my side, and I was tired of walking so much. Cue a toddler-sized temper tantrum… He didn’t give up and he didn’t freak out. If I had been in his shoes, I would have totally freaked out and probably decided to cut our time there short and go home. He did his best to be patient with me. My goodness, I am so grateful for him.

What are you grateful for this week?

PS. Want to do the 52 week gratitude challenge with me? Let me know! It’s not tooooo late to start, but let’s start soon!
